Ether Wars is a fun and addictive game, which I have been developing for over the last ten months, in the little spare time I could scrape together. The game has been developed using cocos2d-x and has Google Play leaderboards, achievements, and turn based multiplayer matches.
I like to describe the Ether Wars as a radial aiming game, patent pending, where perfect timing and patience are crucial to advance through the levels. What I mean with this is that, in each level, the player will have to shoot the blob of ether, in order to destroy it. This will be no easy task, since the blob of ether will be guarded by one or two shields with gaps. Only when the gaps of the shields align, will the blob of ether be vulnerable. New obstacles will appear as the levels are cleared, as well as an increase in the difficulty. Ether Wars has three games modes: Unlimited, Time Attack, and PVP. In the Unlimited game mode, the player has 10 shots to achieve the highest level possible. In Time Attack, the player will have five minutes to reach the highest level he/she can, but with the benefit of starting each level with 10 shots. PVP mode has the same game mechanics as Unlimited with the twist that, up to 6 players, compete until one of them runs out of shots.
Ether Wars has 20 unlockable achievements and three leaderboards: One for the Unlimited game mode, another for the Time Attack mode, and the last one for the amount of levels completed without missing a shot.
I’ve tried to give the game a retro look and feel, inspired on the arcade games of the 80’s. With the exception of the ship, the background music, and the fonts, everything else is done by me.
The game only has an ad banner, on the bottom of the screen, which can be removed with the only IAP that the game has.
